La Paz, capital of Baja California Sur, faces a logistical challenge that few cities in Mexico share: virtually all perishable products supplying the peninsula must travel considerable distances, whether via the Transpeninsular highway or the ferry crossing from the mainland. In both scenarios, maintaining the cold chain without interruption is an operational requirement, not a preference. At Control Terrestre, we coordinate full truckload (FTL) refrigerated transport with origin or destination in La Paz, connecting the peninsula with the rest of Mexico, the United States, Canada, and Central America.

La Paz's desert climate, with temperatures exceeding 40 °C in summer, turns every minute of thermal exposure into a direct risk to the cargo. Our 48- and 53-foot refrigerated units, in full and tandem configurations, operate with temperature control systems that maintain specific ranges throughout the entire route, including wait times and the ferry crossing between La Paz, Topolobampo, and Mazatlán. This capacity is critical when dealing with products that do not allow thermal variations, such as pharmaceuticals destined for hospitals serving the population of Baja California Sur.

La Paz's fishing industry represents one of the most significant refrigerated cargo flows in the region. Tuna, sardines, shellfish, and sport fishing catches require a cold chain from the moment of processing to their final destination, whether for national distribution or export through northern border crossings. We coordinate full shipments connecting La Paz processing plants with distribution centers in El Bajío, Mexico City, Monterrey, and points in the United States, ensuring that the temperature is maintained within the parameters required by applicable health regulations.

The Los Cabos tourist corridor generates a constant and diversified demand for perishable products. Hotels, restaurants, and hospitality centers need to receive meats, dairy, fruits, fresh vegetables, and beverages on a regular basis and under optimal temperature conditions. From the interior of the country, we coordinate FTL refrigerated cargo flows that supply this supply chain, adapting operations to peak tourist season schedules, when volumes increase significantly.

Local agricultural production, which includes organic crops and dates with export potential, also benefits from well-coordinated temperature-controlled logistics. For these products, the window between harvest and delivery to the buyer largely defines their commercial value. We work with refrigerated trailers that allow these volumes to be moved to national and international markets within the timeframes the value chain demands.

The supply of self-service chains and supermarkets in La Paz and the rest of BCS depends almost entirely on shipments from the mainland. Dairy, meats, frozen products, and fresh goods travel hundreds of kilometers before reaching the shelf. Each link in that chain must function with precision, and refrigerated transport bears the greatest thermal responsibility. Our C-TPAT, FAST, BASC, Transporte Limpio, and Responsible Care certifications support operations that meet the safety and traceability standards required by commercial chains and health authorities.

In addition to refrigerated cargo, at Control Terrestre we coordinate complementary services that can address other logistical needs within the same operation: dry vans for general merchandise, flatbeds for oversized cargo, container chassis for foreign trade, and tankers for liquids. This equipment diversity allows consolidating the logistics management of companies that move different types of cargo to or from the peninsula.

Operating in Baja California Sur requires understanding the territory's particularities: ferry crossing times, Transpeninsular conditions, tourist and fishing seasonality, and the restrictions that the climate imposes on sensitive cargo. At Control Terrestre, we work with these variables as part of the planning for each shipment, because on a route where the margin of error is narrow, coordination makes the difference between a successful delivery and a loss.
