Consolidated Shipment: Definition: Also known as "LCL" (Less than Container Load), it involves grouping various goods from different exporters or importers in the same container. Characteristics: Used when the cargo volume of one shipper does not fill a complete container. Allows sharing container costs among several shippers. Less expensive than direct shipment for smaller loads. 3. Air Shipment: Definition: Cargo is transported by air in aircraft. Characteristics: Fast and efficient for urgent deliveries. Ideal for perishable or high-value products. Usually have weight and size restrictions. Functions In logistics, functions related to shipment are essential to ensure that goods move efficiently and safely from the point of origin to the final destination. Deciding whether to use maritime, air, land, multimodal transport, etc., according to cargo needs. Establishing Routes and Schedules: Planning the optimal route and shipment calendar to meet delivery deadlines and requirements. Transport Coordination: Organizing logistics to pick up cargo from the supplier, transport it to the port/airport/terminal, and deliver it to the final destination. Shipment Documentation: Preparing and verifying necessary documentation, such as commercial invoices, packing lists, bills of lading, customs declarations, certificates of origin, among others. Customs Documents: Ensuring all customs requirements are met and preparing necessary documents for customs clearance in the destination country.
