Increases efficiency in Motor Transport in a record year for the heavy vehicle industry

León Guanajuato, [Nov/13/2023]

In a notable trend for the heavy vehicle industry, the accumulated results from January to October suggest a record year in sales, production and exports in the motor transport sector. This area, which covers retail sales, wholesale sales, production and export, is set to surpass the historical records set in 2007.

The challenging economic scenario at the end of 2022, characterized by the threat of a recession in the United States, posed uncertainties for the national economy and, with it, for the motor transportation industry. However, the resilience and adaptability of this industry has led to a notable rise.

In the period from January to October, retail sales of heavy vehicles recorded an impressive advance of 33.9%, reaching a total of 42,704 vehicles, according to reports from the Mexican Association of Automotive Distributors (AMDA). This positive outlook has been driven by factors such as nearshoring and the continued advancement of the economy.

Miguel Elizalde, executive president of the National Association of Bus, Truck and Tractor Producers (ANPACT), projects a positive year-end and a 2024 that will maintain this positive inertia. Despite these achievements, Elizalde points out that there is still a deficit to recover from the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.

In terms of production and export, the horizon is also optimistic. In the period from January to October, the production of heavy units reached 186,830 units, an increase of 13.9% compared to the same period in 2022.

In this context of expansion and exceptional performance in the heavy vehicle industry, logistics companies play a fundamental role in the efficiency of motor transport.
