FTL

ftl

FTL in logistics means Full Truck Load or Complete Truck Load in Spanish. It refers to a shipping method in which an entire truck is used to transport a single load, meaning the truck is completely filled with merchandise from a single customer. This type of service is common when a company needs to transport a large quantity of products that occupy all available space in the vehicle or when it is more convenient for reasons of time and costs. Characteristics of FTL (Full Truck Load): Complete use of the truck: All truck capacity is dedicated to a single customer or shipment. The space is not shared with loads from other companies, which allows total control over the cargo. Faster delivery time: By not having to make additional stops to pick up or deliver other loads, FTL transport is usually faster than other modalities like LTL (Less Than Truck Load), where several small loads are grouped together. More efficient cost for large loads: Although it may be more expensive compared to LTL for small loads, FTL is more cost-effective when the shipment is large enough to fill the entire truck or if speed and security are sought. Reduced risk of damage: Being the only load in the truck, the risk of damage during handling is lower, as merchandise is not constantly being loaded and unloaded at different points. Better logistics control: The customer has more control over the route and delivery time, as they do not depend on additional stops that usually occur in shared shipments. Direct routes: FTL shipments generally take a direct route from origin to destination, which reduces transit time and the risk of delays.
