Refrigerated Freight

Refrigerated Freight

Refrigerated freight is a transportation service that involves shipping perishable or temperature-sensitive products in trucks equipped with refrigeration or temperature control systems. These trucks, commonly known as “reefers” or “reefers,” maintain a specific temperature throughout the trip to preserve the quality and safety of the cargo.

Types of Refrigerated Freight

1. Conventional Refrigeration: This type uses refrigeration units mounted at the front of the trailer. They are common in the transportation of perishable foods such as meat, fruits, vegetables and dairy products.

2. Freezing: They are specifically designed to maintain temperatures below zero degrees Celsius, which is ideal for frozen products such as convenience foods, ice cream or cold-sensitive pharmaceutical products.

3. Multiple Temperature Control: These trailers have the ability to maintain different temperatures in separate sections of the same trailer.

Characteristics of Refrigerated Freight:

– Advanced Refrigeration Systems: They are equipped with advanced refrigeration systems that can maintain precise temperatures throughout the entire trip, even in extreme weather conditions.

– Thermal Insulation: They are designed with insulating materials that help maintain a constant temperature and protect the load from sudden changes in external temperature.

Temperature Monitoring: They are equipped with temperature monitoring systems that allow operators to track and adjust cargo temperature in real time.

– Compliance with Regulations: Transporters must comply with strict regulations and health regulations to guarantee food safety.
